Foxtail Upma

Old Fashioned Oatmeal

  • 1 cup water or milk
  • Pinch of salt
  • ½ cup rolled oats
  • 2 tablespoons milk for serving
  • 1 to 2 teaspoons honey, cane sugar or brown sugar for serving
  • Pinch of cinnamon

Preparation

  • Combine water (or milk) and salt in a small saucepan.
  • Bring to a boil.
  • Stir in oats and reduce heat to medium; cook, stirring occasionally, for 5 minutes.
  • Remove from heat, cover and let stand for 2 to 3 minutes.
